Smoothing (included in An_aadf_pitch_estimator)
Smoothing pitch values is an orthodox technique, not only to have beautiful
curves of intonation, but also to simulate the auditory behaviour, which estab
lish
gradually its estimation of pitch. Only stable pitches, however variables can be
perceived, sudden glissando have not a definite pitch. The amount of variability
of (human) pitch must be assessed if the melody representation reflects human tone
rather than fundamental frequency measurement. The last is the cause, the former
the effect, and this effect, melody is the reason of our search.
Both figures represent two interpolation strategies, the first using only
calculated pitch values, the second, using
interpolation in a much finer way.
